Coach Tony Fryer has helped produce winning programs
at 5 high schools and 4 colleges, including 3 Division I level programs, one of which was a top program in the country. Those
teams competed against the ACC, Big East, Big 10, and teams from every major conference. Games were played on ESPN, CBS, ABC,
NBC television, and in the NCAA and NIT tournaments.
Tony has had the opportunity to work with several NBA players including NBA All-Stars Chauncey Billups
and Kevin Garnett (whom he recruited when Kevin was a senior at Farragut H.S. in Chicago) during their off-season, at his
frequent visits to the nations top training facilities for NBA players in Las Vegas and Chicago, that help him keep pace with
the latest training methods.
Recently, he joined the coaching staff of the Miami Tropics FIBA team that represented the USA in International Professional
Basketball. He has directly recruited, coached, or coached against many players who have gone on to play professional basketball
in the NBA and internationally.
Tony has learned to teach the game of basketball from several coaches who are in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He
began his career in the tough Chicago public and private school leagues. He then went on to coach at Chicago State University
- where he also served as Assistant to the Athletic Director, the University of Chicago, and DePaul University - where he worked
with former CBS National Coach of the Year, Joey Meyer. He also was a producer and the on-air host of the "Craig Hodges Show,"
(3-Time NBA 3pt Champion) seen on Sports Channel America television.
Coach Fryer also has an extensive behavioral science
backround - working as an academic advisor at the University of Illinois, a high school guidance counselor in Broward County,
FL, leading behavior modification programs, and as a successful motivational speaker for youth and adults across the nation.
Tony is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the Black Coaches association, and tutors coaches of
all levels in the methods of the American Sport Education Program, while currently serving as Director of One on One Basketball
Academy.
