The NBA and WNBA have developed a youth basketball
program that combines all the positive elements
that will aide in providing a unique experience
for your entire family. The advisory council
of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA includes Doc Rivers(coach
of the Boston Celtics), Bill Walton (former NBA
All-Star and current NBA analyst), Neil Fortinea (WNBA coach) and Ray Allen (Seattle Supersonics).
This advisory council, as well as youth
sports specialists, have developed
guidelines for players and coaches.
The Guidelines are the elements that will
provide the positive experience for your entire family.
All One on One Basketball Academy coaches receive JR. NBA/Jr. WNBA training & and are ceritfied by the American Sport
Education Program.
PROGRAM GOALS & PHILOSOPHY
The Jr.
NBA/Jr. WNBA, is presented by Gatorade and Nike, and supports One on One Basketball Academy instructional and recreational
programs for players, coaches, parents and officials. Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA programs emphasize fundamental skill development, teamwork,
sportsmanship and positive adult participation with the goal of providing a fun and rewarding youth basketball experience
where young players can create a bond with the game while also learning what it takes to be successful away from the court.
Instruction
is the foundation of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA initiative. That's why an expert team of NBA and WNBA personalities, together with
youth sports professionals, have created a unique series of instructional materials for distribution to member league players,
coaches, parents and officials. The mix of on- and off-court instruction creates and maintains a positive and fun youth basketball
environment where fundamental skill development, team play and sportsmanship are highlighted.
Striving
to achieve goals while respecting your opponents, teammates, coaches and officials is what makes youth sports such an important
developmental activity. Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA recognition programs highlight those traits in young basketball players through positive
reinforcement . All players in Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues each receive a participation certificate upon successfully
completing their season. Programs such as the popular Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Stars identify the extraordinary players, coaches,
teams and leagues who best exhibit the on- and off-court traits that promote a positive youth basketball experience.
NBA and
WNBA coaches, players, legends and officials share their passion with Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues throughout the year.
From skills to sportsmanship, clinics and appearances allow volunteer coaches and young players alike to learn from the best
(subject to schedule and location availability).
Register
to attend one of the programs above or contact us to start a league or training program at a facility in your community!
